Calling all you change makers!

24 Feb

I don’t need to wax on poetically about how critical the Web has been as an organization and communications platform for change. In a nutshell: it’s pretty freaking awesome! However, Social Actions is challenging developers and dreamers to come up with even more ways to connect people with opportunities to make a difference online.  They’ve put out a call out for new Firefox add-ons and Web apps that will help people find and share opportunities on blogs, social networks and more.

If you don’t have the technical chops you can still participate by submitting ideas to the Idea Hub.  Submissions are due on April 3rd and in true Web fashion will be open for voting.  Full details here.  Looking forward to seeing what develops!

Arun Ranganathan and Seth Bindernagel are gearing up for a trip to India to meet with our community and attend what is turning out to be several events.  As you may or may not know – Arun is part of our Evangelism team and focuses on standards and open Web tools, while Seth focuses on localization.  Both have a ton of knowledge about the Mozilla project.  It’s shaping up to be a great visit thanks to our small, but active community in India!

Where in India will Seth & Arun be you ask?

  • Feb. 12th – 13th, Kanpur:  The gents will be participating in the inaugural FOSSKriti at Techkriti.  Arun will be leading a workshop on Web development & Open Source technologies on the night of the 12th and then a HTML5 talk on Feb. 13th.
  • Feb. 14th – 15th, Pune:  Arun and Seth find themselves at GNUnify where they will be leading a mini Mozilla Camp covering localization, Web tools and more.  On Sunday morning from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. they will be joining PuneTech.com for an open meet up.
